Client Story: Sailing into the Sunset
A successful business couple had built up and run a profitable and healthy engineering services company. After 25 years they wanted to sell but didn't know how to ensure they would get enough income to live off for the rest of their lives, if they chose. After in-depth conversations with them, and a full appraisal of their business using a RealityCheck®, we established that there would indeed be a shortfall. I worked with them for two years, adding value across the board, including finding a hidden asset in the business in the shape of software they'd created that was valued at over £1m alone. Having introduced the couple to various corporate finance houses, they sold their business for an eight figure sum, leaving a strong business with a motivated senior management team deftly holding the reins.
FAQs
What is Business Coaching?
Business coaching is a professional and personal service built on trust. It helps entrepreneurs, leaders, managers and executives improve their performance and achieve their goals. It’s generally conducted through regular, structured sessions that aim to enlighten the client’s awareness and adapt their behaviours to achieve more success. Business coaching has become increasingly popular in recent years, as more and more entrepreneurs, leaders, managers and executives recognise the value of having an experienced and objective coach to help them achieve their goals. The benefits of business coaching are numerous, and include improved performance, increased productivity, better time management, enhanced communication skills, and increased confidence and motivation.
What is the role of a Business Coach?
Each business coach will have their own approach, and their own areas of expertise and experience. It's important for you to find a coach with skills and firsthand knowledge in the areas that are most relevant to your business. Also it’s crucial to have aligned core values. As your business coach, it’s my job to increase your capabilities by challenging the status quo, asking you questions and guiding you to find your own answers, rather than telling you how things should be done. I work with clients on a one-to-one basis (meaning one of me with one business at a time), providing guidance, feedback, support, and accountability to help you reach your full potential. I help entrepreneurs, leaders, managers and executives identify their strengths and weaknesses, set goals, and create action plans to achieve them.
Is business coaching worth the investment?
Absolutely. The objective viewpoint from an experienced outsider can be invaluable. I can help you to identify and overcome blockers in your business and help you to unlock your own and your business's potential and get you to where you want to go. Don’t just take my word for it. Two well-known business leaders, Eric Schmidt, former CEO of Google, and Bill Gates, Founder of Microsoft, speak to the value of business coaching. After saying, “I don’t really need a coach, I’ve been an experienced CEO for many years,” Schmidt was persuaded to work with an experienced business coach, and was soon convinced. “What stood out is that he excelled with sky-high EQ and knowing people and culture. He understood how to solve human problems and motivate people.” In summary, by providing expert guidance, support, and accountability, business coaching can help clients improve their own and their business’s performance, overcome challenges, and achieve their goals.
